We connect West African mining operators with the Canadian capital markets built to fund them.
West Africa holds some of the world’s most prospective mineral geology. Canada holds the deepest, most sophisticated pool of junior mining capital anywhere. Yet the two rarely meet — separated by language, by differences in how deals are structured and disclosed, and by a simple shortage of intermediaries who understand both worlds.
Baraka Ligdi was built to stand in that gap. We are a bilingual capital markets advisory firm, based in Toronto, working at the intersection of West African mining and the Canadian junior markets those operators are best suited to access.
The name reflects the bridge itself: Baraka — blessing, prosperity — and Ligdi, the Mooré word for gold. Two languages, one purpose.
Josias S. is a co-founder and Partner at Baraka Ligdi, where he leads capital advisory and investment services for mining issuers and developers operating across West Africa.
A CFA charterholder with an MBA from the Université de Moncton and a Master in Banking & Finance from CESAG Business School in Dakar, Josias brings over seven years of experience in financial services, including direct private investment analysis and execution. His work has spanned investment opportunity evaluation, capital structuring across debt and equity, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring — disciplines he now applies to West African mining capital.
Born in Burkina Faso, with professional experience in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec, Josias sits at the intersection of two ecosystems central to the firm’s mandate: francophone West Africa’s mineral operating environment and Canada’s resource capital markets. He works in both French and English and is available for international travel.
Samer A. is a co-founder and Partner at Baraka Ligdi, based in Toronto, where he leads the firm’s legal, corporate, and regulatory workstreams.
Drawing on a background in law, Samer oversees the firm’s corporate structure, regulatory positioning, and operational foundation.
We work from verifiable facts and disciplined analysis. We do not claim a track record we have not yet built.
We take on a limited number of mandates — those where our expertise makes a genuine difference.
We understand West Africa’s jurisdictions, geology, and operating realities first-hand.
We work fluently in French and English across every mandate.
If you are exploring a Canadian listing, a capital markets mandate, or a royalty arrangement, we would be glad to have a conversation.
